They have previewed new material by playing songs at live shows- which you've seen, so I don't know how that one slipped under the radar/ your massive head.

And the updates online about recording songs- they should really cover 'what's happening'- unless you want Murph to Tweet everytime he has a shit.

Get over yourself.

I'm all for people expressing their opinions and all, but there's no need to resort to name calling on here. Btw Ruby that work experience sounds fantastic!

IStillLoveTord i think Tom was a little upset that you asked was this thread serious and he was defending it. Name calling isn't the best way i know but, as you shown by retaliating in the name throwing emotions can get the better of you. Especially when you can't really show the way it is actually said.

Tom's whole point was that The Wombats need to get on with the new album before they go out of mind for other people who are not as devoted as we all are! They would then have to build and work hard to get back in peoples minds make them and new fans want to go out buy tickets to go see them again. It is happening too, many of my friends who like them but not as much as i do have been asking what they are up too (as they know my love for the band) because they have not heard anything like they used to. The previewed material was nearly a year ago and there is no clue if these will even be on the new album they might go in a different direction? sound different.

On the update remark i don't think we need to know everything but, maybe an idea about when they might hit the studio to record the album or what season the tours will start again will it just be festival again this summer or their own tour? Again they have started to update more on myspace, twitter and facebook.
The band where always touring i think it's quite strange for many fans for it to have stopped for almost a year, unless you went to a festival in summer. Not that am saying they should carry on they needed the rest working so hard for years on the album. Nor would they come back untill they have a better understanding on how the new material will sound live and on the new album.

It just seams a lot has to still happen before they are back and time is ticking on... fans can be so fickel they move on to other bands. So it was good to read the line "I am certain that its not as far away as i sometimes think" in the blog gives us hope that is on the way. Hopefully a single will be out while the album is getting produced or something to help promote them again. Am sure they are aware of this too and Bobbett and others are all over it, its all behind the curtain stuff? In the mean time Tords helping as the promo for his other band states Tord from The Wombats, not that they are anything like the 'bats! The 'Bats are working together rehearsing and working on the new stuff as their tweets have revealed and the other band of Tords stop mid March, maybe due to 'bat commitments....? (i don't know am just speculating)

Thought i should say something,

We have about 23 new songs now, and i personally feel i can see how the album will shape up. I want to be recording it now, but ourselves, label and all the people who work with us know deep down know that if we release something sub-standard it aint gonna to fly.

I think it has been quite a re-adjustment for us, since we stopped touring solidly. We have not become lazy bats, i am thinking about and working on album everyday. And i know its going to be amazing, it has to!

Being off the radar doesnt have to be a bad thing, it means we can bounce back with ludicrous force and velocity as opposed to just hovering back up like some sort of dragonfly.

We've got some great songs under our belts already, we finished one off today which has certainly got my juices flowing. Id like to think the bickering out of this thread is born out of pure lust for some new tunes. But as i said we have to be patient and not rush anything. I am positive the album will come out this year, and if it doesn't im going to strip naked, climb to the top of the Liver buildings and sing 'Everybody Hurts' by REM at the top of my voice!!!

PS i promise we will do more updates, tweets etc. There is no excuse we are just crap at that sort of thing.

Hahaha, brilliant.

They've haven't played many live shows. If they had then there would be recordings/pages of guessed lyrics but no, it's not the case. I saw them play 2 new ones at Glastonbury and that was fucking months ago. There's not been much since.

I would love it if Murph tweeted when he was shitting but alas, he texts me when he is anyway so it's fine.

But anyway, Thanks for the update Murph Nice to hear from you, we miss you terribly you know lol It doesn't feel right not being at a 'bats gig in over a year xD I'd rather you took your time on making a flaming marvelous 2nd album than just throwing any old thing out. It must be good to finally have a normal life for the first time in a good couple of years D: The new tunes we heard last year sounded sweet tho so i'm confident the album's gonna be boss
